This time it was Tamara who was in charge. She stayed on top of him, straddling him. She waited for Jack to put on a condom. Tamara slowly guided him to her entrance, and she sank down on top of him. They both gasped. They hadn’t tried it this way last night, but Tamara loved being on top, and she took charge of it with eagerness. He was holding her firm, toned thighs and rubbing his hands up and down from her hips to her thighs and then back again. He loved the feel of her smooth skin.
They had barely started, and Jack was getting so close. “Tamara, slow down. You’re gonna make me come.” Jack gritted his teeth.
“I know. That’s what I want,” she told him as she smiled and leaned over him to nip at his earlobe.
Jack reached down and found her magic spot. She moaned as he began a gentle rubbing motion over her clit with his thumb. Gradually, the motions became more urgent. He applied more pressure, using his thumb to coax her into orgasm. Tamara picked up the pace and rode him harder. Once she couldn’t stand it anymore, she gave in to the sensation and threw her head back. She screamed out his name as she came.
The feeling of her climax drove Jack into frenzy. He used his hips and thrust into her earnestly. He could still feel the inside of her pussy quivering from her orgasm. It sent him over the edge, and his release came hard and fast. She sat there holding his head against her breasts trying to catch her breath afterward. How could she have gone her whole life without knowing this kind of pleasure? She was startled out of her thoughts by the sound and feel of Jack spanking her ass.
“Enough rest, woman. Let’s get some nourishment, so we can do it again!” He smiled and raised his brows suggestively.
She rolled off of him and lay on the couch next to him. “My God, you are the devil.” She laughed.
“You better believe it, baby!”
Chapter 9
Rex walked into Lean & Fit, gave a nod to Johnny at the front desk, and headed back to Jack’s office. “Well, well, if it isn’t my best friend. If I didn’t find you here, I was ready to file a missing person’s report on you. How in the hell have you been, man? What’s new?”
Jack hung up the phone and glanced up at Rex in the doorway. “Rex, hey, bud. Sorry, I know I’ve blown you off a couple of times. The gym has been real busy. How’s it going?”
“Good, man. But, I have to ask. Why are you trying to bullshit me? I thought we were always straight with each other.” Rex sat down in the chair opposite Jack and propped his feet up on Jack’s desk.
“What do you mean?” Here it comes, the lecture. Rex was going to tell him he was spending too much time with Tamara.
“What do I mean? The Super Bowl is in six days, and I haven’t heard anything from you about watching the game. It’s been three weeks, and your life has become centered on that girl. What gives?” Rex looked at him, puzzled.
Jack ran his hands up and down his face and then ran his fingers through his hair. A clear sign of his frustration. This wasn’t like him, and he knew it, but when he was with Tamara, he didn’t care. He loved spending time with her. He loved making her laugh, pleasing her, making love to her. Hell, if he didn’t know himself any better, he would think he was in love with her. “Shit!”
Rex raised his brows and smirked. He was enjoying the hell out of his friend’s internal dilemma. “Why don’t you tell me what’s going on?”
“Fine. All right, here’s the deal. I met her on New Year’s Eve here at the gym. We hit it off and spent all night together. She has a crazy ex-boyfriend who slashed her tires, smashed the front window of the club here, harassed her, and subsequently hit her. They arrested him, and he seems to be leaving her alone.” Jack took a breath.
“But, the bottom line is, I seem to have fallen for her, hard. And I just don’t get it. She has managed to sneak by every single one of my defenses, and I don’t even think she’s trying to. It’s just happening. And the real kicker of it is, I don’t even care. I spend almost every night with her, and when I don’t, I’m cranky and restless as all hell. Oh, and did I mention that she has been a member here for two years and I never even noticed her before that night? Can you explain that?”
Jack took another deep breath and held up his hand to stop Rex from talking when he started to say something. “Also, you gotta know that I am not intentionally blowing you off. I actually think you would like her if you got to know her. But, I’ve been avoiding that situation at all costs.”
“Why? Oh, are you afraid big bad Uncle Rexy is gonna steal your new woman?” Rex gave him a wicked grin.
“Hardly, but I know you, man, almost better than you know yourself. Your opinion of relationships is poor to say the least. I didn’t want to catch a bunch of crap from you about it. She has become really important to me. I don’t want anything to screw it up. I just want to see where it goes.”
Rex had never seen this side of Jack before, the side that cared about women after he slept with them.
“Man, we’re like brothers. If she makes you happy, then that’s all that matters to me. Let’s get together and watch the Super Bowl together. We can all go down to Flannagan’s, get a table, and drink a little. It will be very social. And I promise to be nice.” Rex flashed his best grin at Jack.
“Why does that scare me? All right, fine. We’ll meet you down there. But, let me lay down some ground rules for you. You are not to talk about any sexual conquests. Mine or yours. You are not to be vulgar in front of her. And lastly, you better not hit on her, or I swear I’ll knock your teeth in. Clear enough?” Jack wasn’t smiling.
Rex held up his hands in a gesture of surrender and laughed. “Crystal clear. So, tell me about this crazy ex of hers. He broke your window?”
“Yeah, it was crazy on New Year’s Eve. He got pretty physical with her in the parking lot. I interrupted him and had to get a little physical with him in return. I guess he didn’t care for it. Since he’s not much of a man, he waited until I was gone and threw a crowbar straight through the front window. He’s not the brightest criminal, though. He was seen leaving the parking lot, and his fingerprints were all over the crowbar.” Jack shrugged and shook his head.
“He hit her too?”
“Yeah, the next day. He shows up at her place trying to get back with her. She broke it off because he was doing one of her friends. Anyway, he shows up to apologize, and she basically tells him she is glad it is over. He loses it and backhands her. God, was I pissed when I found out. It took the swelling a couple of days to go down, and the bruise was there for a week. But, like I said, he’s not the brightest bulb in the fixture. He was sitting right there in front of her, flipping channels on the TV while she was calling 911.” Jack smiled, remembering how smart Tamara was to pretend she was ordering pizza.
“What a jerk.” Tamara was getting into her car and cursing that hotshot new attorney that had just started working at the firm. This was the second time in as many weeks that he had lost an important document and tried to pin it on her and the other secretaries, even though they all knew it was in his in-box the last time any of them had seen it.
Nina, Chrissy, Janelle, and Tamara all had to get chewed out by the partners for being so irresponsible. Never mind the fact that in the collective nine years that all of them had worked there they had never lost one thing. Now, since John Abrams, Esq. had starting working there, all of a sudden two things turned up missing. Really, you didn’t have to be a genius to see the pattern, but apparently the partners weren’t even close to being geniuses because they didn’t see it that way at all.
The drive home was pretty uneventful. She just wanted to get home, take a nice hot bath, and let the stress of today roll off of her shoulders. She arrived at her apartment just in time to watch Shelby flash the middle finger as she drove away. That seemed to be a normal occurrence now. For whatever reason, somehow Tamara had become the bad guy in Shelby’s eyes. I guess it didn’t dawn on Shelby that she was actually the one that did something wrong. Oh well. Tamara shrugged it off. She didn’t care
. She had Jack, and as usual, the thought of him brought a smile to her face.
Walking into her apartment, she saw her answering machine blinking. She walked over and hit play as she began to kick off her shoes to get comfy.
She stopped dead in her tracks when she heard Brent’s voice. She had assumed the message was from Jack. He had gotten into the habit of leaving her one every day so it would be there for her when she got home. He did all sorts of sweet things like that to make her day.
Tamara had to shake her thoughts back to listen to the message. He was apologizing. Tamara hit stop, then rewind, and hit play once more.
“Tamara, it’s me, Brent. Please don’t delete this until you hear me out. I realize you don’t owe me that much, but if I meant anything to you in this past year and a half, I pray that you’ll listen to this.”
He took a deep breath before he continued, “I was wrong, Tamara, in more ways than one. I was wrong to cheat on you, I was wrong to slash your tires, I was wrong to vandalize that club, and most importantly, I was wrong to hit you. I have no excuse.”
He paused again, as if collecting his thoughts. Tamara noticed that his voice sounded full of remorse, and the tone was more like the Brent she had spent the past year and a half with.
“All I can say is, I really do love you. Because you were so special to me, I felt like I could never get reckless with you. I always wanted our lovemaking to be tender. I must admit that I have a bit of a dangerous appetite when it comes to sex. It was a side of me I never wanted you to see. I was afraid if you did I would scare you away.”
He took another breath, and she waited.
“Shelby had been pursuing me for some time. I didn’t want to upset you, so I never said anything. I knew she was your best friend. I came over to your apartment early that day to ask you to marry me. I figured we could start the New Year engaged. She came across the hall and said she needed to talk to me. She claimed that she saw you the month before—when I went on that trip to Santa Barbara for a deposition—with a man. She told me that I wasn’t satisfying you and you had decided to do something about it.” He hesitated for a moment again. “At first, I didn’t believe her, but she knew things about our sex life. Then I figured you must have confided in her about all of the things you always asked me to do and I had refused.”
Tamara hit stop. She had to collect her thoughts. Could all of this be true? It didn’t change what happened. She was happier now. But did Shelby really hate her so much and want Brent bad enough to go to such extremes? She hit play and continued to listen.
“I didn’t know what to think then. I was crazy with rage and hurt. I actually started to cry. I was holding an engagement ring in my pocket, and I’d just found out, or thought I had, that I wasn’t man enough to please you and that you had to go seek satisfaction elsewhere.”
Tamara stopped the message once more. She felt a twinge of guilt. In a way, that was exactly what had happened with Jack. She hit play once more.
“Shelby began to try to soothe my broken heart, so to speak. She told me that she had always been attracted to me. She said that you didn’t deserve me. I know now it was not true. You are amazing! Anyway, then she started to kiss me and do…other things.” He stopped again. He was trying hard to say all of the right things. “I lost it, Tamara. I wasn’t thinking. If you had gotten home ten minutes earlier, it would have never happened. I know I screwed up. I truly do. That night, after you kicked me out, I was beside myself. I had never felt that amount of despair in my life. I went to a bar and had way too many drinks to count. Then I headed to the gym. I knew you’d be there. I waited for you. I just had to make it right. I had to get you back. I couldn’t believe that after the year and a half we had spent together I managed to screw everything up in the thirty minutes I spent with Shelby. I was lost and not thinking clearly. That, mixed with the alcohol and that man from the gym, sent me over the edge.” His voice changed a little, she noticed. The idea that she’d had sex with Jack truly had hurt him.
“I did everything wrong, Tamara. I know you are seeing that man. I know you want nothing to do with me. I don’t know how I will ever get over you. I don’t think it’s possible. But, I’m not a fool. I know it’s over. I know I will never get you back. I just wanted you to know everything that happened. I figured I owed you at least that. Tell your…friend I’m sorry about his window. I have already pled guilty to misdemeanor vandalism and destruction of property. I will be doing community service and have agreed to pay for the damages to the window. As far as what I did to you, I know there is nothing I can do to make that right. My attorney told me you agreed not to file charges against me if I stayed away from you. I thank you for that. Please know that out of everything I have done, staying away from you and losing you is a punishment worse than death. Take care of yourself, Tamara. I’ll miss you, and I’ll always love you.”
That was it, and he hung up. She couldn’t believe it. It all seemed so unreal. Why had he believed Shelby? That made her a little angry, but deep down she was glad and secretly thankful to Shelby. Jack was what she wanted now. The past didn’t matter, just her future. She hoped it included Jack.
“Jack, stop it.” Tamara giggled. “You said we were going to get something to eat. I’m hungry.”
“Me too, baby, I’m trying to take care of that right now.” He was running his tongue down from her ear to the little hollow of her collarbone and then back again. He knew it was one of the many ways to drive her crazy. They were almost out the door when Jack spun her around and pushed her up against it.
“Jack, let’s go to dinner first. If you’re good, maybe I will have a little surprise for you later.” She was having a hard time protesting when his tongue did such wonderful things to her insides.
“Uh Uh, I’m gonna take you now, standing up.” Jack lifted her skirt and was met with bare skin. He groaned at the feel of her bare bottom. “Oh, baby, you’re not wearing anything under here, how come? Were you feeling naughty again?” Jack gently spanked her. His tongue was moving wildly and was now fiercely devouring her neck.
“So much for my surprise.” Tamara moaned. Jack slid his fingers inside her pussy. “Oh, Jack, that feels so…good!”
“For someone who wants to go out to dinner you are pretty wet. Geez, you are soaking, baby. What do you want? Tell me how you want it.” His voice was a soft murmur urging her along.
“Spin me around, Jack. Spin me around, and take me from behind. I love when you do that.”
Jack didn’t wait for her to ask twice. He just spun her around, swiftly yanked down his jeans, and slammed into her. “Shit!” He pulled out.
“What, Jack? What’s wrong?” He had never stopped before.
“Hold on just a second, baby. I got so caught up I almost forgot something.” She heard the package tear on the condom and understood. Once again he slammed into her with a force that always surprised her, but she loved it anyway. He always took her with such raging passion. Just knowing that she brought him to those levels of hunger made her feel powerful. He took her hands and placed them high up against the door.
“Damn, you feel so good, honey.” He reached down and started to massage her clit. Her whole body jolted from the shock of pleasure he brought out in her. “You like that, baby? I love to drive you crazy, send you over the edge.” Jack was whispering in her ear. She had gotten used to and began to crave the way he would talk to her while he was pumping in and out of her.
“Yes, oh, Jack, it does, it feels so good.” She was barely able to speak, and her moaning was beyond her control.
“When I first felt your bare ass, do you know what I thought of?” Jack’s words were half whispers, half groans as he continued to slam into her pussy. “I’ll tell you, I fantasized that you shaved your pussy into a neat little strip of hair. Just the idea of it drove me crazy. If you did that, baby, I would go insane from wanting you. I’m already almost there anyway.” Jack’s last words were barely understandable. He was thrusting into her
with such vigor he could barely breathe.
Tamara met his hand down at her clit and placed her hand over his as he was massaging her, enticing her, welcoming her climax. “Jack, I’m…ooooooh.”
Jack could feel her hot wetness flow over his cock. The sex with Tamara was so good, he had never had felt this way with any other woman. He thought of her and their last few weeks together as he slammed into her one last time and surged upward with his release.
Jack pulled out of Tamara, his chest heaving, trying to catch his breath. “My god, woman. You’re trying to kill me.”
She turned around and rested her hands on the nape of his neck. “Really, well, unless I was mistaken, you seemed to be enjoying yourself,” Tamara said impudently.
“Oh, I enjoy the hell out of it! That’s the problem. There’s never enough. I can’t ever get enough of you.” Jack looked at Tamara, propped his hands on either side of her head, resting them on the door. “I don’t know what it is about you. You are like an aphrodisiac that never ends.”
Tamara gave him a huge grin. “Is that so? An aphrodisiac, huh?”
“Woman, you are like a drug that I have to have to keep my sanity. Wait a minute. That’s it, isn’t it? You’re drugging me. Probably some sort of date rape drug that turns me into your sex slave.”
“Yes, Jack. That’s it. How were you ever able to put it all together?” She rolled her eyes. “You know, sometimes your arrogance can be very cute.”
“Name one time we’ve had sex when I haven’t been completely at your mercy? Go ahead, try, you won’t be able to.” He started to play with her hair. He loved how it became tousled during their lovemaking.
“I can name plenty of times, you’re always in charge. I merely go along with whatever you like. I just want you to be happy, after all.” She was mocking him now.
Jack grabbed her and threw her down on the couch. He began tickling her in all her most sensitive spots. “Oh, you think you’re funny, do you? Well, listen here. What if I said that I am a slave to you and I am loving every minute of it?”
